Howard, love the idea of sending the data as a vcard. What would a perfectly acceptable way to transfer the info. Perhaps a bluetooth handshake would be even better, but anything would be great!

I can see how cut-n-paste would both be a low priority and potentially problematic from the ui perspective. I've seen screenshots of 3rd party apps for the iphone doing it and I think they've about got the kinks work out so we should see that soon as you suggested.

Paul, Yeah, I don't understand why you can't use terminal. It is os x! But I imagine they tried to "dumb" the thing down for those other folks (aka, normals) who use the iPhone.

I'm still very much itching for a portable, foldable bluetooth keyboard. Someone needs to do this! (With landscape input). Then, my mobile blogging dreams shall be complete!

Not sure why I didn't think 'wheres terminal and ssh' on my iphone. That would be a nice app and since the iphone is already on OS X, a fully featured terminal should already be in the iphone. I guess this is one of the reasons people crack their iphones, they can get to terminal and have a mobile OS X device instead of just an iphone.

Along the lines of contact beaming, I could deal with being able to forward a v-card to someone by email. And then, be able to accept a v-card into the address book directly. Since I've got a GPS (TomTom) and I'm around a lot of WiFi networks, I actually decided to stick with the iPhone "Classic" and wait until the 3rd version of the phone.

I've heard that cut and paste functionality is actually going to be coming sooner rather than later, but as an interface guy, I can see the challenge to making this natural, let alone the shared clipboard for multiple applications. If they made copy/paste just text, I think that we would all be pretty happy.

Eric, thanks! I've been trying to put my thoughts down for a few days now, but 2 weeks using the phone really felt like a reasonable time to really get a feel for it. That's enough time of heavy use and distance from the purchase for the rush of getting it where I feel like I can see the good and bad of the phone.

One thing I may not have said clearly in my review is that while I"m a fanboy, I'm not blindly loyal. Apple screwed some things up in my opinion trying to rush this release, but I feel pretty good that they are minor enough that the fixes will be simple (firmware update for most people).

Feel free to drop me a message and we can grab some lunch again sometime.

Good review, Chrispian. I haven't joined the cult yet but depending on some smartphone offerings later this year, I may be joining you. Hopefully some of those 2.0 bugs will be worked out by then. No doubt they will.
